Star Fleet Battles Open Community

After 4 or 5 straight loses to my son, I finally pulled out a victory! And a good one at that :)

Son: Kzinti Cruiser (using hyperdrones)

T1

I start out at 20 w/7 on the front shield, a couple in trac and one in trans. He starts out at 26. Early in the turn he fires 4xhyperdrones. I deal w/3 of them with ph-1's but try to get by with a ph-3 on the fourth one...didn't work and I eat 8 off my #2. I also lobs off 4 regular drones (all type 1). When we get to around 10-12 I fire off my B torp (PPT). He doesn't like big plasma and turns off. I drop my #1 and take out the four type I's with a T-bomb. I start to pursue while keeping the #1 out of his arc. We end about 12-14 away from each other.

T2

He's still at 26 and I'm at 20. He drops the SP and 4 more drones off the racks. I've raised the #1 back up during EA and also started shield repairs on the #2. Early in the turn I manage to take out two of his 4 rack drones and tractor the other two. His SP blossoms with 6xI's. I manage to drop the #2 and transport out another T-bomb. I did some serious figuring and manage to move to where the T-bomb takes out the SP drones AND the two in my tracs without getting zapped by my own T-bomb. I continue to pursue. He heads to the east wall and takes the PPT for what would have been 5 points on the #4 which he burned batteries to protect. He wasn't please when he found out it was fake. He starts heading down the wall (direction D). I keep closing.

T3

I repair a couple of shields on #2. I turn to direction C to cut him off. He's still at 26, I'm at 24. I launch torp A (PPT). The PPT and I keep closing to head him off. He finally fires his 4 right side ph-3's to weaken the plasma. He isn't happy when it hits and I tell him it was another fake. We're about 4 away so he figures he'll HET into me (direction F) so he can hit me with a full salvo of HD's, his rack drones and the rest of his phaser hose. As soon as he HET'd I knew I had him. I had put one point into trac, figuring he wouldn't have any. I trac'd him at R3 for 3 points he couldn't fight so he couldn't WW. I launched 100 points of plasma. He launched 4 rack drones which I was able to later phaser or trac with the other trac and batt power. He fired his HD's which I stopped with phaser fire. I then took his phaser hose on the nose but it didn't penetrate. The plasma hit on his #1 three impulses later for 66 after shields and reinforcement. As I only had shield damage he conceded.

We shook hands and he smiled that I finally got him :) Good game. I really think the KR is my best/favorite ship.
