This is the Official Threadjacking Thread. When you respond to the thread your reply must be completely off all subjects previously posted. The first to repeat a previously posted idea LOSES.
How good is Prime Directive? I know it's being put out in several different game mechanics, but is the idea really sound or is it just more money in the pocket of SVC?
You know, it was 10 years ago when I gave Petrick a balanced Andro and Petrick presented his version of the balanced Andro (the one we have had for the last 10 years). I took one look at it, told him that it would suck, explained why. In front of everyone at Origins, he took a vote. After the vote was tied as to which to try, Petrick decided he would try his version and then "if it didn't work out" they would look again at mine. 10 years, it hasn't worked out, they aren't ever going to do anything.
Basically that is fine, since the currently broken Andro is unplayable and having ships that suck are not bad for the tournament. Still, seeing the new (totally monstrous, btw) Andro being proposed just gave me a chuckle. Balancing the Andro really wasn't that hard, since it was very close to being balanced as it was (though it took an expert at flying it to understand why that was true), but the 10 year history of the unplayable Andro Petrick put forth as a "test" still makes me laugh.
Remember when someone posted a vote about "is EM broken", and it was about sixty-forty to "no", and this was declared to be "clear support for a change". Then, when someone pointed out that sixty-forty against was hardly clear support, it became "the poll was inconclusive so we'll do it MY way".
given to me. I never have given a second thought to such a pet...but this thing is pretty darn cool. It has pretty stringent temperature requirements, but once you get that figured out, it's pretty much feeding it lettuce and cleaning a turd out of the cage.
I like it better than my cats.
Has anyone come to a conclusion on which sort of Fed TC (fast, G-rack, etc) is best balanced? It's all gone quiet and I've not seen any playtesting for a while.
I think everyone here is clearly missing the point entirely. The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, while being the best drink in existence and totally 'hoopy' (as it is quite like having your brain smashed out with a large golden brick wrapped in a slice of lemon), simply cannot be duplicated in a replicator despite the specific application of warp power. It can't be made in EA or with reserve power.
This of course has no effect on star ships powered with an improbability drive so the point is not only moot, it is also redundant.
I am still waiting to hear from anyone on whether they think Coke Zero is just a way to get guys drinking it because they wont buy anything with the word "diet" in it.
Imagine if they had diet beer? THE HORROR !?!?!@?!
The strategic movements done in area segments rather than hex movement is superior and necessary for the continuation of extrapolation based on economic and quasi-reality movement restrictions.
Plus, marine units should be required in battalion level as a minimum for planetary invasions.
But what level does the civilian population matter? Well, planetary production is one of them, and research and development could be another.
Plus you need a system for command and control otherwise you'll have massive fleets with no real quantifying nature to limit them. So larger piece indicators is necessary, not the more nitpicky versions where individual ships would be running around.
Must not respond, sharing the story of my spectacular wreck in full view of the ski lift (and all those riding it). Wait, in just saying this have I already lost (ie, the purpose of this thread)???? Nooooooooo!!!!!!
No, they're following whatever Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman are spouting that day instead.
I don't have a problem with an educated person who has looked at the facts and decided to be a conservative. I actually enjoy discussing politics with such people. It's the ones who pick an ideological leaning (doesn't matter which one) WITHOUT thinking that scare the hell out of me. Because those people vote without checking the facts and that's a recipe for disaster.
so i am watching CNN as they cover the possible meltdown happening in japan, danger to the US, etc., and all i can think is that anchor Brooke Baldwin is HOT!
When I want to look at hot chicks I watch cable news. When I want t get real news, hello NPR
That zoos do almost nothing for animal preservation. Its a very rare thing that endangered animals are restored to the wild in such numbers that the species recovers and survives.
As an old Marine it still astounds me when I hear one who has never been shot at say that the rules of war should be observed. The only rule I surrived by was winning!!!!! Patton and several others from WW II understood that. As long as the other side still has fight in them the war never ends!!!!! Something that should be taken to heart in this day and age!!!!

Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one and enjoy it by yourself or with people you trust, but don't talk about it in public, don't flaunt it, and whatever you do, don't go sticking it down strangers' throats!
Rules which must be followed. If we do not follow the rules then we have anarchy. The rules here say each post must be made independent of, and without reference to, any other post. That said, I will say, I am now up to season 4 having only started watching less than 2 weeks ago.
I will also say that part of me cant understand how people still think Obama was born in Kenya, but part of me realises there are a lot of racists in the world who cant understand how a black man can be the most powerful person on the planet. I, of course, am referring to the Birther movement, and not that hot beverage movement who only worry about lowering taxes - so there is no repetition here !!
Finally, I drank beer at lunch. I like beer. I would like to drink it every day for lunch. And possibly afternoon tea, too.

They have the tech to guarantee a hit of a 100m target from 50000km away (170000km for the big guns) but there is a universal constraint that prevents coordination of more than a handful of ships at at time in battle. I wonder how that's explained in Officer Command School.

Tied vote = "clear support" not a new thing
Remember when someone posted a vote about "is EM broken", and it was about sixty-forty to "no", and this was declared to be "clear support for a change". Then, when someone pointed out that sixty-forty against was hardly clear support, it became "the poll was inconclusive so we'll do it MY way".

Attend their meetings. Then criticize. Do be sure to ask what kind of tea will be served. Doileys are perhaps appropriate.
